Last time we talked about having a “Driver” for product/service development process and how important this is to the profitability of your business.

We can have a Driver for market development but without the proper org structure, processes, and tools to support this Driver the future of new products/services could get lost in the rush.

An org structure to support the ideas and concepts that come from the Driver pursuing the market and its needs is necessary to analyze, develop and help define what is going to be sold and to whom. The actual processes and tools that are necessary to analyze and develop need to be in place and be functional to take the concepts and ideas and turn them into prototypical concepts for analysis.

Without the above support tools the Driver can become frustrated and disillusioned as his/her ideas and concepts could die for lack of support and enthusiasm.

What we’re saying is, product/service market development needs to be a living functional part of a business and be supported sufficiently to take ideas and concepts from a driver and do the basic grunt work to turn them into prototypical concepts that can be analyzed for viability.

This is where the change must start!!!!
