Drafting the Strategic Plan
So, we have decided that a “Strategic Statement” of what the company sells is the first step in drafting a Strategic Plan. We have decided that this should be stated in 1 to 2 sentences and all key people must buy into this statement. While this sounds easy, it is not, and it is the most important step in drafting the Plan as everything in the plan will be developed from this single statement.
We have focused 3 newsletters on this topic in the hope that it will drive home the importance of this step. We know that this step is omitted in most plans and because of this most plans fail to deliver the results desired.
OK, what’s next? If we have a Strategic Statement of what we sell the logical next step is to define, proactively, to whom we will sell our defined product or service. That’s right, we decide who will be our customers and we make these decisions based on the value we can deliver to industries and companies within those industries based on actual company experience.
Sounds complex, right? Well it is!
